Because they are kings and queens of all they survey, that's why. EVERYONE is afraid of the cat. As an aside, I've handled a bazillion animals over rhe years -- some big like cattle and horses; some smaller like dogs and cats and birds. Only aminal that has EVER been quick enough and stealthy enough to get a strike in that connected has been cats. Three of them so far. Bastards. Those little ****ers are QUICK! lol

Dachshunds are that way, too. Both my and my wife's families have had them. Pushy little bastards, but lovable.
