"Get woke, go broke" phrase origination

So this is funny to me.

I just found 2 more OU items in my closet, tossed 'em out and told The Wife to get rid of 'em. I already gave away most of it, and all my NBA and OKC Thunder gear, as well. She asked me if I was no longer an OU fan, either, and I told her I wasn't going to support them after their stupidity with the BLM bullspit.

I told her I supported the "Get woke, go broke" mantra, which means, if you support BLM and the leftist 'progressive' socialist agenda, I wouldn't support you.

Interestingly enough, reading up on Wikipedia on a supposedly unrelated topic, one of my favorite authors, I read the John Ringo is the originator of the "Get woke, go broke" phrase.

Now I like the dude even more!

Ok, so maybe it's stupid, but I thought it an interesting coincidence just a few minutes apart.

I think they still have the patch on their jersey. I was trying to look for it a game or two ago, and couldn't quite make it out but looked like that's probably what the letters on it were.

They started the year with a big BLM in a patch on their chests. Haven't watched a game since. Don't have any "gear".
Wifey was a big Thunder fan but took off her Thunder license plate herself and peeled off the back window sticker she used to find her car in the parking lot. We haven't watched any pro or college sports since.

Back to John Ringo, I have never heard of him but will look his work up.
I like this guy, C.W. Lemoine. He's a Navy FA-18 pilot and Air Force F-16 pilot. In the reserves he flies the T-38 as an aggressor pilot. He works for his local sheriff's department as a deputy and flies for American Airlines. He has the Spectre and Alex Shepherd series of books. If you like Ringo you might like Lemoine.
