I'm not a believer in ghosts as they are commonly portrayed and discussed. 99%+ of ghost stories are pure BS. But I do believe there are some things that don't fit into the "normal" world. A little background- I had an aunt (dad's older sister) and uncle that meant the world to me. Basically my second parents. They were absolutely two of the best, most decent people in the world. Both of their children had died young, both before 25 years old. No kids, no grandkids. A little over a dozen years ago my uncle was diagnosed with cancer. My aunt was already suffering from Alzheimer's. A cousin from another aunt and myself were the only family members willing to step up and help them. My uncle passed just before Christmas and my aunt was living in an assisted living facility. They had a 120 acre farm way out in the country, nearest neighbors were nearly a mile away, and it fell to me to maintain the property and my cousin took care of the things she was better at like financial and medical care for my aunt. I spent a couple of years making at least weekly visits to the farm and mowing twice a month or more in season. Numerous times while I was working around the property like mowing the yard and areas close the house and outbuildings I would think I saw someone else there. Either a glimpse out of the corner of my eye of someone slipping around the corner of a building or similar. Many times I would stop the mower and get off to see who my visitor was only to find no one else around. Never felt creeped out or like I was being watched, just a damn, I coulda swore I saw someone, maybe it was a bird or a animal... This went on for a few years until my aunt succumbed to the ravages of Alzheimer's and general old age. Prior to my aunt's passing when I went to the property to work I always sort of felt sort of a sense of welcome. After my aunt passed the next trip out things felt different. Not bad or creepy, just empty. I think maybe some of that was probably my own feeling of loss manifesting. But maybe after my aunt had passed there was no longer any need for my uncle to wait around for her.
