Fraud, waste and abuse. Looks like the typical .gov born taxpayer abuse program.
By all the accounts I’ve heard, they were intentionally not looking for waste, abuse, or fraud, because that would’ve showed down the process of getting the PPP funds to the companies that needed it.

Of course, they ended up writing checks to scammers so fast that there wasn’t any money to go to a bunch of companies that actually needed the money to keep their employees paid…

A friend just retired from being an Assistant DA for the DOJ and he said they estimated 80% of the paycheck protection claims were fraudulent and there was something like 3 or 5 agents in charge of that type of fraud in this region and they were based out of Chicago.
