Glancing at paycheck protection program recipients for Oklahoma

I spent a few minutes scrolling through the recipients, especially of the really large amounts.
I wonder if any will ever get paid back.
I don't know if I SHOULD feel like a chump or not but I sure do.

The “loans” were never designed to be paid back. As long as the accounting was handled a certain way and employees were paid, it was fully forgiven.

I keep getting calls telling me they can get me 26,000 which doesn't have to be paid back, for my employees. But I don't use employees, just sub contractors, gotta be a scam.

By all the accounts I’ve heard, they were intentionally not looking for waste, abuse, or fraud, because that would’ve showed down the process of getting the PPP funds to the companies that needed it.

Of course, they ended up writing checks to scammers so fast that there wasn’t any money to go to a bunch of companies that actually needed the money to keep their employees paid…

A friend just retired from being an Assistant DA for the DOJ and he said they estimated 80% of the paycheck protection claims were fraudulent and there was something like 3 or 5 agents in charge of that type of fraud in this region and they were based out of Chicago.

Many of the candidates received PPP loans themselves

Some abusers have been prosecuted but nary enough. They were just set up as examples so the DOJ would
look like they were doing their job.
