Funny. To be fair to the green item I would let it set and ripen up a bit.
Many hard ones do not have much flavor anyway.
3 weeks is not that long in the fridge.

If you do another experiment just toss a hard one in the fridge and test it for flavor NOT color after 3 weeks.

The experiment continues. Three weeks after purchase.

They never ripened in the container, which means it did it's job...maybe. I'd see how long it would last in the fridge.
You could have several of those and pull one or two out and let them get ripe over a few days. Cool, I'll have to give it a go.

I remember the pre-NAFTA days before we put avocado on everything. I also remember they were very seasonal around here.
