Check out some of the local ranges that rent pistols and see if you can fire a regular G30 or even a G30sf. That will give you an idea about the pistol.
I have a G30S and really like it. Yes it is a G36 slide on an G30sf frame, but it is not the "Frankenpistol" people think it is. People use to combine these two pistols together, and created a pistol that was at times unsafe and unreliable. Glock seized on the idea of this and has made a detailed, machined, tested, and warrantied firearm. The pistol is a Glock, so the grip might feel big, a lot of people say Glock grips are too big. In my opinion it feels great. I have decent sized hands and do not have a problem with comfort, trigger reach, or firing this pistol. Recoil during firing is acceptable and easy to keep this pistol on target. Carrying capacity is 10+1 or you can use the G21 magazines and have 13+1 (which will make the grip a bit longer, but who does not want more .45acp huh?). I conceal carry this pistol and the weight fully loaded is not an issue for me, though it will depend on your personnel carry style. Easy to break down, clean, and reassemble. Very accurate right out of the box. I have put 500 rounds through my G30S so far with zero problems at this time. I hope this helped you out. But the only way to really know if you like something is to try it out. Pistol buying choices could be so easy answered if we could fire them before we buy. Check out some of the local ranges that rent pistols and see if you can fire a regular G30 or even a G30sf. That will give you an idea about the pistol. If you like the G30 or fire a G30sf which is the same frame as a G30S then you should like the G30S.
