Help! Talk me out of getting into .308!

I consolidated calibers years ago and I haven't really wanted to add calibers that I don't already have before now, but lately I've been tempted to get an AR-10.

I recently picked up a 8" .300 Blackout so I'm kinda thinking that I might as well get a .308 too.

I would be using it for the occasional deer or hog hunt at distances that I don't feel the 300 BLK wouldn't be adequate.

At this time I don't really have a great place to hunt but maybe that'll change before too long.

I wish I could help you, but I've been thinking the same thing. I consolidated calibers, and am down to 6.5CM, 270, 243, 30-30, and 30-06 in rifles, but an AR-10 sounds nice.

No help here, I generally always have a 308, although I prefer bolt guns over AR’s. A nicely done AR10 is a sweet gun to have though. I’m partial to any with a 18-20” barrel and rifle length gas system

I've consolidated to 22lr, 9mm, 223 & 12 gauge 308 is on my radar soon as well

Isn’t accuracy kind of sub par compared to an AR10 though?

The 270 and 308 have ruled for years. I’ve hunted with a tc single shot in those calibers and taken deer and hogs. Whatever your platform it’s a good round.

Sorry no help here i have 2 308's 1 bolt and 1 AR-10 along with other 30 cal's, but then i currently have 28 different calibers and adding more as i find good prices.

It depends. AR-10’s generally are easier to make accurate, but a properly prepped M1A is just as capable.
