I wish I would have asked this question before venturing into my AR world. I would have probably not saved any money because I'm stubborn but it would have helped make some decisions easier.

@Duncandl thanks fir breaking out the ole laptop to reply.

Also thank you to everyone else for replying, I’m taking in all the advice to help form a better opinion. As I look at more parts, there are more wants. It’s a slippery slope... lol

Just don't wait to long to pull the trigger, so to speak. Everything may be out of stock by the time you make a decision, if it isn't already.

Good luck!

right now it might be better to buy a complete rifle parts are getting pretty scarce. Those links would be good starting points and you could decide what trigger, stock, hand guard, muzzle device etc you want, while still having most of the gun assembled by a quality company.

I shoot and spend most all my time in a venue as far from ARs as you’d want. Didn’t have much inclination in that direction. Versed with the M1A but had forgot what little I ever learned beyond cleaning and fowling an m-16. Then I decided I really did need one after all:-)). Was at same crossroads as OP (only AR-10) and decided I ‘should’ build if only to obtain the experience & knowledgable at working level. I’m glad. Didn’t save any money but learned what I wanted and now have the tools. That’s be my recommendation. You’ll watch more videos than you want but then again, what a resource! I could have gone cheaper than AERO but the important thing now is, whoever you use, I’d say deciding on a lower is time sensitive. Maybe I’m pessimistic but I’m also caught with my pants down on primers right now so there’s that!
