Lost in the debate is any acknowledgement that President Obama’s administration also used detention facilities.

Current U.S. immigration laws, when enforced, have the consequence of temporarily separating families that arrive with children into separate detention facilities in order to prosecute the adults. The policy of prosecuting immigrants for crossing the border illegally has been in place for multiple administrations. The Obama administration prosecuted half a million illegal immigrants and similarly separated families in the process. So did the Bush administration. Personal accounts from immigration lawyers tell a tale of Obama being equally concerned about unaccompanied minors traveling to the border and wanting to create a deterrent.

Photos of border detention facilities from the Obama-era, taken during 2014, look nearly identical to the ones taken during the Trump era.

You never see them, however. Here they are, taken in 2014 during a media tour of an Obama-era detention facilities in Brownsville, Texas, and Nogales, Arizona.

As the Daily Caller previously reported, “Obama administration prosecuted nearly 500,000 illegal immigrants between FY 2010-FY2016. They referred 1/5 of illegals for prosecution, which often resulted in family separations.”

Remember the little Cuban boy in Florida...I think..Elian Gonzales. INS PLACED him with his extended family...the ones who his mother drown trying to get him and her to their home in Florida. Anyway....the Florida Courts ruled the family in Florida couldn't apply for asylum for him...only his dad back in Cuba could do that.

Guess who told the Supreme Court NOT....NOT....NOT...to hear this case. It was on it's way to the Supreme Court and Libtard Demo/Janet Reno squashed that idea real quick.....why?

She was the one who wanted him deported...sent back to his dad but his mother died trying to get him and her into America. Eventually getting him to her family.


Where were the bleeding heart Demos on letting him stay....and....dare I say it....eventually becoming an...dare I say it......an American.

Bottom line: Where were all the HELL raising, protect the children, blame Clinton and Reno media and people...and Democrats? Oh I forgot....Demos won't attack another Demo..Clinton and Reno.

Sending him back was the correct thing to do, even under American law. Parents have the highest rights to their children; the High Court would have undoubtedly ruled in favor of the father. That situation just doesn't apply to this discussion.

Illegals get treated better than Americans do!’ If an American breaks the law and is arrested and they have children guess what? The kids get taken away. They don’t get to stay with them while they go to jail. But since these are illegals we have to break our backs to make everything as easy as possible on them. Look I feel sorry for the kids. They don’t have a say so. But, we cannot run our country using emotions. We have to do what is right and safe for US! Socialism is pushing its way into all aspects of American life. The left wants open borders and to allow droves of criminals to pour in. They are getting their wish. It isn’t hard to fix our border issues. It isn’t hard to fix our immigration system. As I said in the other thread, these aren't illegals. The devil is definitely in the details on this one: these are people who have come to a port of entry and requested asylum, which is quite legal. Neither side is really emphasizing that detail because leaving it out suits their agendas, but it's important.

DAVE70968 ...... it totally does apply to this situation and I understand parental rights and laws. What rights did he have or his fiduciary have to apply for Asylum(isn't this the same asylum the Mexican Border folks and children are seeking???) for him through his relatives? It's extremely funny or ironic how the Central and Southern Americans are allowed or at least "sorted" out and the ones deemed okay allowed to apply. His mother and boyfriend fleeing not only a poor country but a Communist Country, one that Fidel ruled with an iron fist...that's not enough for the past Democrats and President to step in and help...like they're doing to President Trump now?

Why did Clinton and Reno not step in and help him....AND....keep him from going back to a Communist country that his mother, her boyfriend, and her child were fleeing?
