If someone doesn't think the government isn't running health care, then explain to me how it is that the federal government is trying to limit Monoclonal Antibody Infusion materials from red states. Also, supposedly the federal government is going to send out millions of test kits and millions of good grade masks.

Why the heck is the government having anything to do with controlling any of those products?

This. We already have national health care. It just isnt single payer yet.

This really should be a mic drop moment for this board. How the government has acted during the whole pandemic should be enough to NOT allow the government to have control or administer healthcare. They have show that they CAN and WILL dictate your health concerns.

Just imagine if this administration would've gotten their way during this pandemic. Y'all would have to have your shots and bosted, like it or not, you'd have show your papers to everyone, you would have to wear a mask, and you'll only get the best treatment we have if you qualify for it and we deem it so.

You do realize it's .gov regulation driving the price up, right? I know you don't get the allocated cost of overhead concept, but when a hospital is required to do more work, like file government documents, report statistics, hire based on equality and not competency, meet regulations, and any other extra work, that will drive up the cost of an aspirin. Not necessarily profit. The idea you are expressing that because the hospital charges more it’s profit and that is what you (we) don’t know.. It is likely to cover extra costs.

And like was mentioned earlier, some hospitals are already a not for profit.
I get allocated cost of overhead, I just don't buy that its responsible for the ludicrous cost of hospital stay with just a teensy bit left over for the hospital. And that is not including the cost of medicine, medical equipment and paraphernalia.

And again, what is YOUR idea to make health care affordable? So far all you have done is critiqued mine without offering any ideas. I agree that I don't want the government fully in charge of it. I've seen way to many people screwed by the VA including family members. But something has to be done. I've also seen what paying for a long, drawn out medical emergency can do to people.

It's absolutely wrong...... from a 10,000 ft view people MIGHT be able to compare but it's honestly apples to oranges. You also don't debate/argue a subject by changing the subject and pointing a finger elsewhere. Which is why that fallacy exists.
How is it different though? How is it apples and oranges? Different organizations sure, but same principle….I’m not changing the subject, I’m using the largest government employer to make a point about privatization. If privatization makes things better, and capitalism always works, why does that principle not apply here? I bet If the military was already privatized you’d be arguing against making it public here…

The only thing I can provide is reverse ubamacare, that was supposed to save Americans $2,500 per year. Before that, healthcare costs increased around 6%-7% per year (and people b!tched about that), after that, we have seen triple digit increases annually, yes over 100% a year for some folks.

Other than that, get experience or an education in something in demand and create value for your services where there is little. Earn enough money to pay for the insurance that covers the medical bills. I know people don't like to hear that, but that's the reality.

If the government cannot even run the Veteran's Administration, what is there about that to show they can run the country as a whole healthcare system?

Don't forget about the Indian Health Service . . . the government does a great job of hamstringing itself and making things 100x harder than they need to be . . .

You seriously don't understand how the logistics of running healthcare to the public is different than military service? I mean if you want to get into the minutia start a thread. However, let me ask you this..... where does a significant portion of the innovation come from with regards to military technology? Where does the government turn to with regards to production capacity starting with WWII. I can go on?

I'll play your own logic against you.....

Show where socialism always works. Which do you believe has a better outcome generally? Public schools or Private? I mean if you REALLY want to die on that hill we can go back and forth all day on how many times capitalism has worked in lieu of socialism. I notice you have no answer to concerns of triage or rationing of care or even mandates?

However, let's get back the subject at hand. Let's do this.... show how government intervention has improved healthcare overall. Specifically, start with the ACA/Obamacare. I mean, I can go further back, but that's the easiest reference point.

Obama care is a failure in every measurable, conceivable way to the American taxpayers.

It is truly mind-boggling that anyone would advocate more government to fix a problem they're largely creating.

I mean seriously, who is that stupid?

Socialism works every single time it's been implemented.

Exactly how it's intended to work that is.
