Great idea! But I’m not fully sure I get it; so if you don’t mind, stop by Home Depot and pick up the stuff you need and come over and kinda show me what you mean? I’ll sit in the hot tub and guide you as you crawl around up on my roof so it’s all even and such. Oh, just let me know what the parts and materials run, I’ll have a check cut to reimburse you.

Since you know the dimensions now,
If you ever need a replacement - a rectangular pool cover is another option - and can go from edge to edge in 1 piece.

Have ya seen those TV ads for the "Sunsetter" retractable awnings? Don't know anything about 'em, but it looks like installation would let ya keep both feet on the ground.
