You can also drain and flush that sediment out once a year, and replace the sacrificial rod every five. Might get twenty years out of it.
If the previous owners had tried that, maybe, but there was a yuuuuuge mass of calcium in that tank by the time my folks bought the place. There was no saving it by the time they bought the place.

So if you're on natural gas, go out and buy one that ONG will give a rebate. Check ONG.com for details.
I don't know about a straight up replacement of a gas water heater, but they were doing pretty big rebates on replacing an electric water heater with a gas unit, something like $700.

ETA: it's a $850 rebate on converting. Looks like $250 is the highest they'll go on a new water heater. https://www.oklahomanaturalgas.com/rebate-programs/homeowners
