We went to Dallas with our 11 year old nephew, similar situation. The only thing we could find, like you’re looking for was pretty expensive. So I had the idea of getting 2 rooms and requesting adjoining rooms, but again that wasn’t most cost effective. So I looked at Hotwire, where they don’t tell you where you’re staying until you pay (non-refundable). Thought we’d roll the dice ended up getting a 4 star in the area we wanted to be in. I called the front desk as soon as I got the confirmation and asked for adjoining rooms and they said it would not be a problem. So our nice hotel total was like $169 + taxes for both rooms. A much crappier suite wanted $209 + tax/fees.
