How does a noobie get into hunting?

Hey all. My family has always been a target-shooting/self-defense type of gun owners, but I've recently had the desire to get into hunting. I know the big seasons are generally not in the summer, but that's the only time I have off from school up here in NY.

Where and how could I get my fix in June or July?

Just off the top of my head, all I can think of is hog hunting. I'm sure you can find someone who does "day hunts".

There is a place in okc metro that does year round guided hunts. The have all sorts of thinks to harvest. From antelope to zebra. Hog is the most affordable around 3-400$ a hunt, going up to 4k+ for hunting exotics in OK.

Look up hunting preserves, alot of them are year-round as they put out birds to hunt.

For public land hunting in Oklahoma, in June and July, you could hunt squirrel or coyote at most WMA's. All you need is a hunting license.
