[QUOTE="diggler1833, post: 3930275, member: 48072"] Reloading is a passion to me, so I don't factor in time like others. I literally find it as enjoyable as shooting. Here are my expenses for reloading .223, pre-component apocalypse: (1K) 68-77gr .224 projectiles - $250-300. (1K) 1xF Lake City 5.56 brass - $150. (1K) CCI 41 primers - $35 (4lbs) Gunpowder - $120-140 So it ran me ~$550 to reload a thousand "precision" cartridges. That is still far less than buying the factory equivalent. Obviously, you can save $150 by switching to cheap 55gr FMJ, and subsequent reloading would cost $400/1K since I'd be reusing the brass. Add in the $400 - whatever costs for a reloading setup, and one can see why it takes about 1,000 - 1,500 rounds (depending on cartridges) of *rifle* ammo to make your money back if you reload.
