I recently have taken a liking to the SVT quite a bit and decided to pick one up. I made the expensive decision to pick one up on Gunbroker.
Afterwards, after sanding and linseeding the bubbled up and splotchy stock (it was bad), it turned out nice in its own way. But I wanted something slightly more authentic.
Just for fun, I put up a WTB on armslist and to my surprise, someone in Bixby had a nice one for sale. After paying what I did for the GB rifle, I'm not sure how well I did, but $1,400 seemed like a super fair price to me for something in town and in good shape. Has anyone seen an SVT at a gun show recently? Whats their going rate? And here are some pics for anyone curious of my cardinal sin. The one on the left is my handiwork.
