I think you made an excellent choice! I've read all this with interest, but kept my mouth shut because this choice is so subjective. Years ago, I was trying to decide on the one more rifle I needed to have, based on what animals I thought I might realistically get to hunt. At the time, I figured elk was as big as it would get. My choice came down to the 7mm Remington Mag or the .300 Win Mag. I chose the .300, but the 7mm would have served just as well. Ammo is easy to find, it's easy to reload, cost is competitive, it's available in a wide variety of rifles, on and on. I wouldn't feel comfortable with it against the big bears but, other than that, you're set for anything in North America! And, if you leave North America, well, you now have an excuse for yet another rifle. And, Jen will understand! I know she will!
