It has a taller front sight.
I was not going to do any drilling on it .

But the crown is miffed a bit from cleaning rod use.
Or it looks like it anyway you know how you get ovals somewhere on the end of the bore
from overzealous cleaning with a steel rod.
Makes me want to cut the threaded end off of the barrel and crown it.

What do you think about doing that?

I did shoot it again at 100 with the Privi ammo and 3 shots this time and all are towards the center kind of.
I will post target later.
I did shoot some 180gr bullets @Hangfire gave me.
I loaded them in 30-06 with my bad culled out R-P brass and cci 200 primers with 57, 57.5 and 58 gr of powder H4350.
2 close together and the hotter one went left.
This brass was culled because ID and OD after sizing was not the same as my other cases.
.0005" different neck ID on one case and I did not check OD.

Looks like 57 and 57.5 do have potential.
I forgot to take my Chrony.
Have you watched some of the youtube vids on recrowning? Brass bolt chucked in a drill with valve lapping compound. I did a mosin once and it really helped.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I've owned them both thread and not threaded so it would not be a noticeable modification........as you know it never will shoot accurately if the muzzle isn't true and all you're going to do is waste components and get aggravated.

For those that may not know what we are referring to.....

Yes I have and I have cut and crowned a few barrels myself and results were always better after being cut and crowned.
I will just try to crown it and see what I get first.

I have a feeling I will need to go kind of deep.

Here is a picture of the target i shot yesterday.
The white lines are the 6.5x55 Privi ammo at 100 yards.

The White arrows are where the last target 100 yard bullets would have overlapped.
Yes I cleaned the barrel before shooting yesterday and copper cleaned up with 2 soaks.

Yellow arrows are 180gr 30-06 with 57, 57.5 and the one in left field was 58 gr of powder.
1.55" 3 shot group from 30-06.

3.88" group with 6.5x55 and last target at 100 was 3.86" at 100.
