And a Swede.

I finally shot a 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser.
I picked up from @Hangfire and he tossed in some factory ammo.
I know what bad eyesight is all about blurry sights or blurry target you pick which one it will be.
ere is the sad target.

When was the last time you had your eye checked for cataracts?

Had the same problem you describe at about your age, progressively got worse until it started showing up in the scope pictures in my 70's. Even when wearing my glasses.

My eye doctor is a hunter and shooter and wrote me prescription and wrote the right words for the insurance company and I got cataract surgery for seeing sights again. Wish I hadn't waited 20 years to get it done. No longer need the glasses at all. Not even readers.

Last week I had my eyes checked and got the same prescription as last year and the year before.

my problem is I see good up close without glasses.
I can sit 5 feet away from the computer or newspaper and read it just fine.
But at long distance things get blurry so I need glasses for long distance.
The sight on the muzzle is sort of clear clear through my glasses target is super clear.

The sight closest to me is a blur through my glasses I will add some white to the sights today and test as i am going to Tecumseh to cut some cedar trees down and weed eat stuff.

Get some shooting in.

Focus on the front sight! Your eyes can't focus on two things at once, and as we get older the switch of focus from front to rear becomes slower.

Also - the Swedes are typically gonna shoot low at 100. Unless someone has already swapped out the front sight blade, it's gonna need to be taller.

If you have any thoughts of drilling/tapping that rifle just don't.

It has a taller front sight.
I was not going to do any drilling on it .

But the crown is miffed a bit from cleaning rod use.
Or it looks like it anyway you know how you get ovals somewhere on the end of the bore
from overzealous cleaning with a steel rod.
Makes me want to cut the threaded end off of the barrel and crown it.

What do you think about doing that?

I did shoot it again at 100 with the Privi ammo and 3 shots this time and all are towards the center kind of.
I will post target later.
I did shoot some 180gr bullets @Hangfire gave me.
I loaded them in 30-06 with my bad culled out R-P brass and cci 200 primers with 57, 57.5 and 58 gr of powder H4350.
2 close together and the hotter one went left.
This brass was culled because ID and OD after sizing was not the same as my other cases.
.0005" different neck ID on one case and I did not check OD.

Looks like 57 and 57.5 do have potential.
I forgot to take my Chrony.

I'd try it with some 139-140 grain bullets as well. Every one I've had stacked those, really accurate.

I know Norma makes some good brass for it, never tried it, but should be top shelf.

Sorry about that, it was just an idea.
