The vent is the poop chute, males have longer tail then females and many species can be visually sexed.. Male snake also have 2 hemipenes.. In case one get sore they can use the other..

If it ain't a coral snake and the head doesn't look like a very pronounced arowhead, and it's in OK, it's not poisonous. If you've ever seen a real cotton mouth, their heads are not easily confused with harmless snakes.
I know it's pointless, but you guys need to quit killing harmless snakes. Then again, I guess they're like ducks, they're a lot easier to identify in the blind.

The dog was barking at this fat girl, Heterodon Platirhinos or Eastern hognose..It was upright with neck flared looking all bad until I grabbed it then it went to playing possum like they do.. I righted it many times and it kept going belly up.. Would have like to have gotten the flared warning stance but it wasn't happening..
