I will put this under stupid things because I have busted things laying around that need fixin' and I tackle this.
I usually do not do that so I guess I am getting older and not wiser or maybe the wife is rubbing off on me as she likes pretty things for some reason.

Well I went and built a cedar top for the movable island in the kitchen.
The old white/green formica top was working just fine.

But I had built a cedar bench to sit at and the top will match the bench.

The top is not installed yet as I just put the first coat of Shinola on it.
These started as a dead cedar that I cut down.

Thanks that table top is made from 3 pieces of wood glued and doweled together and is just 5" narrower than the formica top.
It needed to be a bit narrower though.
My planer will only do a 12" wide piece of wood these were just under that.
