Probably not. You can call the cell provider and they MAY be able to see where it is. But I would suggest you install Prey Antitheft or Lookout and have it setup so that you can see where it is next time.
You should start calling it and maybe someone will pick it up and answer. Many years ago I found a guys phone and it was locked, battery pull allowed me in to it and then I called one of the numbers that seemed important, I think it was literally "Mom." Told the person I found the phone and where to send them to pick it up.

Was it an Iphone or Android?

If you have an iPhone, the phone setup with your Apple ID, and the gps and find iPhone turned on, someone can find it if you want to share your Apple ID and password.
Or you could log into icloud on a computer or other device.
Took my iPhone for a swim this past Sunday afternoon.
Is there an app that counts the laps or what?
