I am rarely motivated to cash checks. They usually sit around until I have a reason to go to the bank or want to do the mobile deposit.

I hold checks and it drives the wife crazy.
I see no issue with it as I hate to go to the bank and wait in line.
So I may hold it for 3 weeks because I know there are a few more checks I will be getting and can do all of them at the same time.

Only people it makes angry are those that can't do math and think they still have money in the bank.
And they write a check thinking there was funds because they used some automated deal that said there was money in the account.

Yep It bit me holding checks and there were NO funds for me from the person that gave me the check.

I have a friend that charges 40% more if you write a check.
Some banks charge a fee to cash a check.
So more money out of pocket.


I do not put other peoples checks in my account I go to their bank and cash them.

The wealthiest people that I know, almost all still use checks.

I don't use checks...but I'm a poor azz and too lazy to write one out. Frankly, I'm not sure if I remember how to do it.

Because most small business don't like credit card fees. I built a house over the last year and 80% of the vendors wanted checks. My HVAC guy sent me a quickbooks invoice and I paid $31k with my AMEX. He called me 2 minutes later and asked if he could cancel the payment for a check.

Yep some of those things charge 3% more to use a credit card.

Spending hundreds of thousand in a year with the business, those CC fees add up quick. A first class stamp and an envelope saves you money.

I will hold a check for around a month since i only go to the bank once a month unless it is a emergency which is very rare.
