My dad gave me an original Sharps carbine a while back, a "project" for sure and had missing pieces. I was in Ohio at the time, and on my way to Memphis and low and behold on the way pass right past Dixie Gun Works who, if you didnt know, specializes in original parts of such type of gun. I got most of the missing pieces from them and dropped the rifle off at a Gunsmith to do a few things with it and install some parts (several screws were seized so I was going to let a gunsmith do it before I tore it up). Anywho, I get to pick up my now "complete" Sharps. I'm not brave enough to try and load it...I think its too far gone but now it should look awesome if I display it and wish it could tell some stories. Below are pics of what I received. Missing forend, some screws, toggle link, saddle ring and a few odds and ends.

Its got a cool "add on", a Lawrence Pellet Primer System.

More kinda cool info. I believe this is SN 77482.
SN77481 was issued to a soldier during the Civil war, as well as some shortly after this SN so its a good possibility this one was too, just not documented.

"77481 was issued to Pvt. William Doran Co. E, 2nd Kansas Cavalry.

77476 & 77500 were both issued to the same company, there is no telling where this old war horse served. I did see carbines with similar serial numbers being issued in early 1862.

Some companies were issued Sharps in serial number blocks but other companies the serial numbers are just helter skelter."

The saddle ring is repro and "distressed", hammer screw is made by the gunsmith but the other missing parts are original. Most of the small parts came from Dixie Gun Works. Will keep an eye out for an original hammer screw but otherwise I think it came out pretty neat.

4th pic you can see the slot that it would fling out the priming disk. Pretty cool.
