I like Musk. I do know he's a big "Global Warming" guy and thinks the planet is doomed, but he seems to be open to science and logic. He's come around on other issues, like the plandemic. Plus the guy's got moxie. Nothing says "up yours!" like buying the guy's company that's ticking you off.
Speaking of that. Howard Hughes has a history of that.

When a Vegas hotel tried to kick him out, he bought the place.

Faced with a huge tax bill in California, he decided to move to Las Vegas in late 1966, arriving by private train car and taking up residence on the top floor of the Desert Inn. When the hotel’s owner tried to evict Hughes and his staff, who didn’t gamble, in order to free up rooms for high-roller guests, Hughes decided to buy the place (technically, he purchased a long-term lease), for $13 million. Afterward, he went on a Vegas buying spree, snapping up other hotel-casinos, an airport and airline and various tracts of undeveloped land. Also, because Hughes, by then a recluse who never left his Desert Inn penthouse, wanted to watch his favorite old movies on late-night TV—and the city had no all-night stations–he acquired a local TV station of his own.
After four years in Vegas, during which time he became one of Nevada’s biggest employers and private landholders, he left abruptly in 1970. He spent the final six years of his life living in hotels in the Bahamas, Nicaragua, Vancouver, London and Acapulco.

Not quite the same thing, but that's how Sonny Bono got into politics. Some petty city bureaucrat was being unhelpful and rude, to boot, so Bono told him that he was going to run for mayor so he could fire the guy. So he ran, and when he won, he did exactly that.

I guess that makes him the rare politician who kept one of his campaign promises...

I’d love to have one just for cruising around town but just can’t justify the cost. They are classy looking cars and 0-60 in 2.5 seconds is impressive. I’ll just buy the CTS-V I’ve been wanting when I can bring myself to spend the money. Being a tightwad sucks sometimes.

Just don’t give them a phone number or email address. Problem solved…
Oh I know that, but it's pretty convenient at times. I got a firing miss on the way between Duboys Wyoming and Butte Montana last summer. Dealer in Butte diagnosed which defective plug wires were bad without the vehicle going into the shop. Replaced the three myself and was back on the road.

I know. I was just busting your chops. I’d love to have your rig too!

Here, but occasionally There.
Back when we were volunteers working at an RV park in Utah, that park was listed as one of Tesla's charging sites in their documentation. We would get folks coming through on occasion looking to get a charge. However, most didn't want to spend the two hours or whatever sitting around before moving on, so if their smart phone app told them they had enough juice to get to the next charging station, they wanted say 30 minutes worth and then move on.

First of all, I'm not sure I would want to trust a smart phone app for what "reserve" I had, especially so in somewhat mountainous areas.

That RV park's sole "outlet" listed for EV charging was equipped exactly the same as most RV sites with a 50-amp connection, a 30-amp connection, and a 20-amp connection. As for Tesla, they had adapters so that their owners could plug into any of the three options. So, if one had an EV and could talk an RV park owner to allow a hook-up for a lesser amount than what it cost for a day rate on an RV site, that is another option for charging.

Kicking or screaming we’ll all get dragged into owning a hybrid or fully electric vehicle at some point. Unless, you don’t happen to live that long.

If you don’t like the thought of being tracked, well you should probably stop using electronics, banks, mail, and just about any modern convenience.

I like all types of automobiles steam, electric, fossil fuel, and maybe someday Mr Fusion.
