I went to Academy and held it and looked at the scope mounts on it .
Front one was not level across the top as the rear one.. but not too far off.
Not a deal breaker at all as it could be fixed as there may be a bit of slack in the screw holes.

I thought the barrel was thicker than it is ..Looks like it in pictures with the threaded muzzle protector on it.
But that muzzle thread protector is thin wall.

Now I do not want a 22" barrel that is thin. I am not going to use anything on that threaded end.
I looked at some reviews of that 6.5 vs a few others and it is not special by any means.

But the deal breaker was 22" and the velocity.
Seems the 120gr will do better to 1000 than the 140+ gr loads.
But I know handloading can wring good things out of a load.

Anyone have a Creedmoor with 22" barrel?
    What velocities do you get.
Not that I am about Velocities as much as accuracy.
But I feel my 30-06 that holds under 5" at 500 yards with 155 A max will get the job done just as well for hunting anything I need to hunt.
I did some trajectory calculations and looks like to 1000 yards my 3000 fps with the 30-06 will match the 6.5 with 22" barrel.
    Nothing to gain I suppose.
I do have one very accurate load with 155 palma bullet in that 30-06 that is 176 fps faster but it sucks at killing . It pencils right through.
The 155A max does not do that.

You get a short action, less recoil and much better BC in bullet selection.

Here's almost everything you could possibly want to know about 6.5 velocities and barrel length.

FWIW I loaded 147gr ELD-Ms on Reloader 16 to 2750fps out of my 24" Proof barrel. I stay supersonic out to 1500 yards and need 8 mils to hit 1000 yards. Conversely, a 120gr ELDM doing ~3000fps only stays super out to 1000 yards and needs another .7 mils to get there. Not to mention you'll be fighting the wind with the 120s.

I don't think you can go wrong going 6.5 creedmoor with the availability of factory ammo options. Savage, Bergara, Howa, Ruger, Tikka etc... all make awesome factory options chambered in 6.5.

hmm, a friend of mine brought by a TC Compass 308 that he wanted me to sight in for him before rifle season. He already had the scope mounted, but it hadn't been shot or sighted in or anything. First thing I did is what I do with my own guns once the scope is mounted, I get a small level and a flat 2.5" piece of steel to level the scope with the gun. Its always worked fine on my own guns, but this one was giving me a bit of a hard time. I would place the flat metal in front of the front scope mount on the extra bit of weaver base and check the level of the gun. Then I would place the level on top of the scope to check that level and match them to each other. Once those two matched I figured it was good, but then I placed the flat metal in front of the rear scope mount, just like I did on the front, and it was giving maybe a 1/8 or 3/16 inch difference from being level to the front mount. I eventually just leveled the scope with the mount the mount that seemed to be level, I don't remember if it was the front or back. The gun did shoot pretty good, it did 1 1/8" groups with the cheap Winchester and Federal 150gr ammo that he planned to hunt with. I'm sure better ammo would easily get under 1".

So his mounts seemed to be un-level, where if you were aiming the gun it would affect the scope horizontally, but is sounds like the one you looked at may have been the opposite direction, where it would affect the scope vertically?

That's kind of confusing, hopefully I explained it well enough that you get what I was trying to say? lol

The results are in on the 6.5 creedmoor. It's all it's claimed to be. Gun to gun variance and quality is life but the cal is solid.

I may end up with one some day but not that TC one..I will want a fatter barrel.
My heavy barrel savage .308's have me spoiled.
    They just aren't too finicky.
I get what you say about the scope mounting thaHooligan.
Short action vs long action is not a deal breaker for me either.
    I almost got a 110 BA 338 Lapua a few years ago.

@swampratt if you remember the thread I started on my 6.5cm loads I was working on, I'm shooting a 22" Bergara. I'm pretty sure I listed some velocities I was catching at 15' with my chronograph. Most were not maxed. If this helps ya any.

I did not know the barrel length on yours and I read it and just under 2700fps like 2680.
I did some testing on my savage 18" vs my Ruger 22" in .308
    Using IMR 4064 powder.
2863 fps with 150 gr.in 18" savage and 2898 for the 22" barrel using 46.5gr of powder for both.
I wonder if your Bergara barrel is faster than a factory TC barrel.

    I did some calculations 100 zero 2690fps 130gr .510BC Tipped match king (6.5 ) vs .308 @ 2860fps 155gr .435BC A max
    10mph wind
    6.5 500 yards down 57.94" 19.22 wind drift , 1026 energy. 1000 yards, 372.87 drop 92.59 drift 469 energy.
    308 500 yards down 53.9" 21.20 wind drift, 1238 energy. 1000 yards, 365.39 drop 105.54 drift 500 energy.

The higher BC kicked butt on drift.. the slightly higher velocity won on drop.
    338 Lapua 250gr 2900fps.
    500 yards.. down 45.19".. 13.03" drift 2223 energy. 1000 yards 270.52" drop, 60.03 drift 1650 energy.
I should have got that gun when i could as it was 800 bucks and less than 20 rounds down the pipe.

I picked up a Tikka T3 CTR in 260 Rem. today at Gene Sears. It has a 20" threaded barrel. I won't be shooting it until after Christmas but I'm sure I can push a 140 gr to 2700fps with H4350 and probably faster with RL16 or 17. The 6.5 CM and 260 Rem. are very close ballistically. A good rule of thumb is +/- 25fps per inch of barrel.

Depending on brass and powder with a 140gr bullet, I would venture a guess of +/- 2800 fps out of a 22" barrel shooting a 6.5 CM.

I ordered one from Kentucky Gun Co right after Christmas last year. It was a steal with the Vortex scope. I plan on using it to hunt so am not too worried about velocity or shooting out to 1000+ with it. I have an AR-10 I rebarreled to Creed for that.

Added a spring kit to it and the trigger is really nice. Sighted in with 140 Hornady Black from Academy and it shoots a ragged hole at 100. I'm def satisfied for the price, which was under $300.
