I'm contemplating taking up deer hunting again....

.... after several years of not hunting. Am I forgetting anything?

Relearn to field dress the animal.
Unless extremely cold weather, skin immediately.
Have a large work surface to butcher the animal.
Learn how to butcher. (Before, I took it to the butcher.)
Buy a freezer. Freeze the meat.

Am I forgetting anything?

1) Find place to hunt. 2) Kill deer
Not a problem. I have farmland south of here. I went down on my weekly "do farm stuff" run and jumped 3 does.

I also cut hay for sale. Plus several ponds. Deer are there. Not an issue.

All bases covered except to process the deer myself. That's where I'm rusty.

Emphasis on point 1. Unfortunately, deer hunting is mostly a rich man’s sport these days. Yeah, I know, public land. I value my life too much to hunt public land with a firearm.
Just curious on this thought of public land hunting. I was thinking of doing my first deer hunt here on public land and seen this comment a few times. Is it just idiots with guns? I never had a problem with public land when I lived in Alaska
