They do have an active criminal investigation division. I had a neighbor that was supervisor of that group in Tulsa. They did regular range sessions and annual qualifying.
They do not need have a police force, they have plenty of other local or federal police forces they could utilize in apprehensions.

The “military” is the same citizens that make up this forum.

They haven’t recruited the woke folks since the draft but good luck with that theory.

Here, but occasionally There.
Back in the days of Obumba, government agencies kept buying ammo. However, in one sense, they were forced to do so. All because the Congress couldn't or wouldn't pass a new budget, so they kept doing "continuing resolutions."

My understanding is that with a continuing resolution, the last valid "budget" requirements and items to purchase had to be repeated in the "new year." Thus, if the IRS needed 9mm in the year of the last "valid budget," then they had to get the same ammo in the same quantities as in the past.

It is nonsense because every agency is affected. If the Army purchased 14 helicopter in the valid budget year, they had to get 14 more, even if they didn't need or want them.

The IRS and Postal Service have a “police force”, because it’s a govt bureaucracy and someone else is paying for it (we the taxpayers). It has nothing to do with “need”.

If you ever see the guys escorting nuclear materials on the highway, you would the the SEALs are invading your local gas station. Pretty serious dudes, and the DOE has several teams to escort materials and to secure national security risks to energy infrastructure. I feel that’s warranted.
I can verify the security armada when moving nukes.
Last summer we were in Great Falls Montana, home of Maelstrom AFB and lots of ICBM’s.
Buddy and I got on I-15 in Great Falls coming back from a fishing trip and ended up in the middle of a big blue convoy of about 20 trucks carrying lots of M-60’s and M-2’s in turrets on top coming into town. It wasn’t blanks hanging in belts from the weapons.
In the middle was a very large trailer with the heaviest armed vehicles surrounding it as it went down the highway.
Thought sure we would get pulled over or blocked in but nothing really happened. We were the only civilian vehicle on the interstate as LEO were blocking every entrance and exit.
We saw our exit coming up so I pulled to the shoulder, slowed down and went around the officer thinking now he’s going to stop us but he never left his post.
The only reason I could think of that they didn’t do something is that they were probably coming back from a delivery empty but they have to put on the show no matter what so nobody knows which direction the delivery is headed.
