The way I see it, since 1993 and the first World Trade Center attack, we have been in a holy war. Maybe longer than that. It's been Islam against Christianity and it's going to get worse. As you've seen on the news with recent attacks, it only takes a few to terrorize thousands. The "phobia" was created by Islamists and people are getting into the mindset that every one they see has a bomb underneath their clothing and carrying an AK47. I also look back at history and the Vietnam war. For several years, North Vietnam had been sneaking troops into the south to live everyday lives and make preparation for what was to come. In 1968 during the Tet celebration, these troops received word to attack targets in the south and what we now know as the Tet offensive began. I've been saying for years that the same thing is going to happen here in the U.S. This country went to war because of the actions of terrorists, some of which were trained at flight school right here in our own state. The people of the U.S. have a bad habit of saying "it'll never happen here". It did. At the moment it's happening in other countries and people are tired of it.
