I don't think that is his intent. I'm pretty sure it's a post to start some discussion, but we will see.

My opinion is that there should be almost zero high speed chases. Too many innocent get killed or injured. There should be helicopter observation with radio communication to station officers where they can intercept the vehicle.
Now, if someone has blasted a bunch of people in a heinous manner that is beyond question, the 20mm Vulcan cannon in the nose of the helicopter should be deployed in a judicious manner.
That is my take on the subject.

The police at the time only knew a dude ran from them after a car chase.
They did not know he was a felon when chasing him..How would you know.

Could have been some stupid kid that was grounded and took mommy's car for a joy ride with a friend when she went shopping with her friend.
Shooting at a person running away with their back towards you..No.
If he was to turn around and point a gun at you then yes end it.

This fool will get his fun days that is a fact.

Sorry man, but I disagree with this. Helicopters can only do so much. Once the perps ditch the car it would take officers too much time to get to that area to apprehend them. I watch a video where the local pd was busting some illegal street racing. The copter followed one SUV until the occupants ditched it and went on foot. It took another 20 minutes to get officers in the area to arrest them. And the only reason they got most of the people is 4 of them clustered up and ran together. One guy got away because he separated and went a different way. Now, if they had any brains, they all would have gone separate ways and the copter would have been forced to follow just one.

Besides, a low percentage of high speed chases involves innocent bystanders. The same could be said for trying to apprehend someone with a gun. When they start shooting at police innocent bystanders can get shot accidentally. Should we stop trying to arrest those guys as well? Apprehending dangerous criminals ALWAYS leaves a chance an innocent bystander can get hurt, but its far better for society to try and get these guys off the street.

I'll never forget the day when my Dad took my brothers and me out to a farm somewhere outside Little Rock. He pointed out all the men working in the cotton field hoeing, all were wearing chains and there were guards everywhere on horseback with shotguns. This was in the mid '60s. Just seeing made a lasting impression on me!

Yep, I remember an officer I knew shot a fleeing suspect in the butt. He also drove thru a stockade fence and over a burglar but the good old days are gone. Now it seems criminals have more rights than the police.
