Bob Childers, Tom Skinner, and now Jimmy LaFave. Red Dirt music has lost another legend.
I stopped by the Red Dirt Festival in Stillwater a few weeks ago. LaFave wasn't doing so well. A buddy of mine played on LaFave's first two albums, so I took my him back stage to say goodbye to Jimmy. My buddy was pretty shaken up...
Yeah, one of my good friends (in the video I linked) played with him a great deal. His farewell concert, which Jimmy sang the last song at, was last Thursday; and it was quite moving.
Very sad.

Just read several articles on him. Really sad deal, but he has to get major props for sticking with what he loved to the end. It would be really easy to just give up, quit and disappear. He didn't.
