I spent 3 days in the hospital when I was 3 years old. Only $66.00.

I know my cousin was working at Wonder bread @$5 an hour in 1970 which was a very good wage at the time. I believe they were union.

Myself I started at Famous Repice Fried Chicken in 1972 as a fry cook at minimum wage of $1.50 an hour. Yes the same famous repice that had all the employees marched into the wakin freezer and were murdered by an ex-employee ☹️

Some times Union wages are good. Got my Ironworkers (Book) Card in 1961. My mom was making $2.50 hr. helping to build Canberra Bombers my Dad was making $2.35 hr. working for the Philadelphia Transportation Co. Now called SEPTA. I was a Apprentice and started at $4.05. Journeyman wage was $6.10 two years later. P.S. I remember that incident in Freezer. Horrible thing that!

I was out of work for a while in 1975 walking picket at a papermill in Franklin, Va. so, we didn't have any health insurance. My son was born, and it cost us $700 and some odd dollars.
