I saw Kristofferson and Willie play at The Grand Casino in Shawnee. Kristofferson opened, and it was just him with a guitar and a stool. He was incredible, had a couple stories and that super gravelly voice. Heck of a show.
Willie got up there with a large band and ruined the evening. His shtick of intentionally playing off beat was exaggerated with the big band. We couldn’t wait for the show to be over.
But we both really enjoyed the second-to-last Highwaymen, and he lived an incredible life.

I don’t recall Keith being a part of the Highwaymen. Maybe he was and I just missed it. Although it would’ve been 😎 if he did.
Keith died in '67. The drugs keep him going. Pot is a preservative.
