Which begs an interesting question -- does it take longer to run up 32 flights of stairs or wait and take the elevator?? I'm sure if you are WAITING on an elevator it feels like for ever, but realistically I wonder if it is faster to wait. Plus, you won't be completely winded by the time you get where you are going.

I assumed it was because a well trained terrorist plot might include plans to disable the elevator trapping the SWAT team inside.
It would take me all day to climb 32 floors.
On 911 some of the first responders climbed 80 or more flights.
Some of them took the fast ride down tho.

ETA....Fire crews don't use tthe elevator because the fire might disable the elevator on the trip up.
