My Brother in Law works for Smith, owned by Schlumberger now, but still operates as its own. My Dad’s biological father made a lot of mistakes as a young man. Left my grandma with 2 young kids for another woman and started a new life, abandoned his family. One funny thing was that he was a shister all the way around. When he left, he took a job as an engineer with an oil company near San Antonio. Said he had his degree in mechanical engineering from Plains University in Plains Ks. Which if you’ve ever been through Plains Ks, it’s almost comical. But this was the 60s and fact checking wasn’t what is now. My Dad was able to forgive and develop a relationship with him later in life. Well he developed Alzheimer’s in his last few years. It was strange because my Dad was the last person who he knew. His 2nd wife who lived with him for 50 years was a stranger. He’d call and say “Billy, I didn’t know the VA would send people to your home to take care of you. I don’t know who she is but she sure takes good care of me. They even let her spend the night with me.”
