I’m a Yankee by birth but never a Liberal. OK resident since 1977. Found many friends for life here, mostly country folk, people whose families were here before and during the Territory Days, through the Depression, Ranching, Farming, Blue Collar Workers, Indians, Former Marines, and various Professionals. One thing they all have in common; they don’t believe that the world owes them anything! They work for what they have. Democrats out here are not the same as Left Coast or Eastern Block Socialists. Look at the Election Statistics. Solid Democratic constituencies consistently vote Republican for Presidential and Congressional Elections. The difference I believe is that people here have not lost their identity as Individuals and given it up for some kind of Collective Identity like the POP Culture thing. The Left has worked for years cultivating every conceivable Special Interest that anyone Identifies with into their Camp. They have infiltrated Education and have done their best to eradicate all the values that made our people strong starting in Primary Education right through to Post-Graduates. They have confederates in the Courts and now in the Government Infrastructure; have Taxed our Corporations into bankruptcy or forced them out of our borders to provide money for Social Programs that do not ever show a positive result; placed so many Restrictions and Regulations on Manufacturing that it’s not longer economically feasible, and promoted Economic and Racial warfare in Politics that is now spilling out to the streets. It seems like it’s all too coordinated and being manipulated for a purpose. The last Election indicated that the balance had not swung so far that things could not be changed for the better. This has enraged the opposition and they are going all out to burn down the house so they can rebuild it to their specifications and design with the Leaders who are inevitably behind all this conflict in the first place. Anyway, about your suggestion for a way to make things right, one more anecdote. Soon after I moved to Oklahoma, I was on a Fishing and Hunting trip with one of my friends. He brought his ‘Old Redneck’ Dad. While sitting around a fire and talking Politics he said, “There isn’t enough rope or trees in this country to hang all the crooked Politicians.” I know now that he was correct.
