My 12 year old has the same thing. He refuses to shoot left handed, but when he actually does, he can drive tacks. Stubborn kids.
Get a cheap pair of safety glasses, $5 or less Harbor Freight. Cover left lense with electrical tape. Not as bothersome as the pirate patch and quicker to put on and off. A few practice sessions and you can change your eye dominance.

I am the same way. I'm 20/25 in my right eye and 20/15 in my left and right handed. I used to run risers on my red dots and scopes so I could still shoot with my left eye, but I eventually took the risers off and just got used to shooting with my right eye closed for scopes. I trained myself to keep both eyes open for red dots. That may not be the right answer but it works for me.
Nope. I can close or wink with my right eye and keep my left open, but I cannot close my left eye without closing my right. Medical anomaly?
