You better hope your bullet does not change.
Hornady has changed the shape on they 3031 bullet and it absolutely does not shoot the same.
I have heard others state about bullet changes and about them just dropping the bullet they used from production.

Not that it matters but could screw up some of what you wanted that scope to do.

I use mil dot scopes.

I place large 5 foot tall cardboard box up for a target and place an X at the aim point near the top.
Zero at 100 then back off to 200 aim at the X same spot as 100 yard.. shoot 3 shots then go to 300 then 400 and 500 and so on.
Then i go back to the cardboard and circle each 3 shot group.
I then go to 200 and notice where on the mildots that circle is. Make a note of it.
Go to 300 do the same thing. not of it .. I now have my drops you can do the same with clicks.

To prove you got it right make a new X and shoot at it from 100 and 200 and so on. this time compensating for the drops.
All shots should be at the X.
And it shows you at what distance you "can't" hold a group good enough for a clean kill.

Any repeatable scope should be able to pull this off.
I have a piece of paper with my drops written down and laminated to my stock.

CDS does not seem too expensive if it works as well as the above.
Try the above in hot and cold weather.
