I hunt with a 10x scope. Longest shot I’ve taken on a deer was about 280 yards but I’d feel pretty comfortable out to 4-500.

For what you're asking the optic to do, I'd probably go with a quality 4.5-14X. Try to find one with very fine reticle subtension at the crosshairs. Bullet drop compensation/ranging would be another nice feature, but obviously that would have to match your preferred load.

I've got a Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14x42mm with Ballistic Plex reticle that I really like. But I have it on my Savage FV-SR and the BDC works really well with .22 subs out to 75 yards. :)
