Well since it's a New Mexico run https://redriver.org/lodging/cabins might be nice.
Lots of vacation rentals there. We stayed at Red River last memorial day in a cabin that was spitting distance of the upper red river.
Several members of this forum met us there and grilled steak with us. Good times. We got an inch of snow the day before memorial day.
Be forewarned, there are 10,000 + bikers there that weekend. The small town ambiance turns into a gestapo atmosphere with the NM LEO clamping down on everything. If you go 1 mph over the speed limit, expect a stop. That includes the enchanted circle that runs up to Taos.

WHOA. Yeah, we can do without the Sturgis atmosphere. lol

We've decided Arbuckle looks good, but it's close enough we can do that anytime with a day or two. Looks like we're going to go to Eureka/Beaver Lake. Narrowed it down to 5 or 6 rentals right now, just have to decide on which one. Thanks for all the tips, I expect we'll utilize many of them in the future.

With all that in mind, and recognizing that it's a weekend trip, I'd still have to chime in for Southern Utah.

You will certainly need more than a weekend for that one.
