Low cost reliable auto Tulsa area but willing to drive

Someone hydroplaned into my sons lane and when he tried to avoid them he ended up hydroplaning off the road, hitting a tree and tottalled his car.
He's only getting ~$1580 ins $$$ and doesn't have much to add to it.
trying to keep it around there but he needs something a bit reliable to transport himself to/from work.

I’ve got a 2003 Toyota Avalon. Kept up on all the maintenance and it’s never missed an oil change. Just recently did a transmission fluid change myself so it’s running really solid.
