To add to my earlier comment, or make it more to the point, before running to a doctor for a shot, or pill, or surgery to fix problems, first try taking care of yourself to include a healthy diet, and regular stretch and exercise routine to build up supporting muscle. By stretching, I do not mean ever causing any pain or burning, but simply doing whatever stretch in whatever direction by simply sagging and breathing and relaxing and sagging a bit more with every exhale. You might be shocked at how much this helps with pain.

Dont mess with it and just go get it done! I suffered with multiple wrecked disk for 30 yrs. I had a childhoold disease that put my pelvis and spine out of wack and I decided to be a power lifter - body builder and did so until one day I literally hit the floor. Ive had 2 lumbar laminectomy's and they helped a little. My son had the whole disk fusion and ladder in his back 2 yrs ago and he's playing and taking jiujitsu now. I wish I had done the fusion! I had lost both feet several times and was able to get them back after surgery. Now 2 days before a hip replacement my left foot dropped! My advice to get the full fusion and ladder and you will have many years of use back and the pain will disappear. I went the cheapest fastest route and got maybe 40-50% relief both times. You start feeling better in a couple weeks and dont do much for several months and as soon as they release you for normal activities things start coming back and after a year your thinking "this really sucks" "I thought I would be pain free and my disabilities gone" I do recommend getting the surgery ASAP ! I had work insurance on the 1st surgery and used up my (out of pocket) expense by going to a chiropractor and paid $250 for my part on the surgery. Hospital sent me a check back for $190 after surgery. Last surgery with Medicare and C&D coverage cost a Flat $200. Hip Replacement last Summer cost $250.

Yes, ineffective in my case.
Worked great for me twice, but once was pretty short term. This third time has been pretty good so far, and lasted longer than the short-term ablation. No telling how long it will last this time. Thing is, despite what they used to say, nerves can, and often do, grow back. So the ablations don't last forever. Except when you do really severe damage.
