Would you carry a conversion barrel gun for self defense?

I was just wondering if anyone has or does run a conversion barrel in their M&P? I have a M&P 40 which I picked up with a Storm Lake 40-9 conversion. I’m actually thinking that I will probably run it strictly as a 9mm, but was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this as far as reliable or unreliable performance. Any practical experiences or stories would be appreciated.

As a plus, I put up a poll, cause they’re fun. ( For me anyway.)

I've heard nothing but good on the conversions with M&P.
I Just wish they would make a .40 barrel that is more accurate, but they all go to 9mm from .40

I’m not a huge fan of the .40, but having said that, I may even pick up a .357 barrel to “maximize utility.”
Maybe an aftermarket barrel would be more accurate?

I shoot an M&P Pro in .40 for the Major power factor in USPSA competitions.
It's not the most accurate gun I own, and accuracy counts in competitions.
I've read about the 9mm conversions that are great, but the same company doesn't make the .40 barrels.

Just curious - what kind of groups are you expecting at say 25 yards? I have no complaints on the M&P .40 accuracy; it's more capable than I am.

From a rest, it's about 4-5"
My Kimber .45 from the same rest will shoot 1" groups. It's not the shooter.
I can hold similar groups from many handguns I own, some bigger some smaller.

That's similar to what I see from my M&P .40s. My Springfield Loaded 1911 is much better but I attribute that to an Accurate Iron work-over of the trigger and slide.

4-5” @ 25 yards is too large. Guess I’ll have to do some testing with mine. If my results are similar, it will either be a dedicated 9mm or move on.

When times in USPSA that are 1/2 second between 1st and 5th on occasion with the accuracy of hitting the A zone vs the B & C zone that accuracy can determine a lot. Your aiming at the A zone and hit the C is a huge score killer.
