Thinking about putting a can on a scout squad rifle. anyone have experience suppressing m1a's before?
They look sweet suppressed. One of my favorites.

How do they sound? Can you turn the gas off to quiet them down? Is there sub sonic ammo out there for them?
EBR will work in them. You have to cycle the action. I don't have any interest in subsonic ammo like that. Something like 338 Spectre is cool but loading regular rifles with pistol powder just doesn't interest me at all.

I picked up one of these adapters and I also have a Schuster Adjustable Gas Plug on my Scout/Squad Rifle but I haven't got around to test firing it yet to see how it sounds. I've got an AAC Cyclone for my .308s.

If that opening is open between the muzzle and the suppressor you're wasting your time. WOW, and money for $180. You could have had TROS or probably Mech Accuracy in Jones make you a threaded adapter for much less than that.
I have a Gemtech HVT on my M1a, works extremely well. It is very easily hearing safe with full power ammo. I've never tried it with subsonics..
There is a VERY substantial Point of Impact change with the can mounted though, so much so that you cannot expect to hit anything Sans-Can..

What kind of flash hiders or adapters did you all use? And are you happy with how it turned out? Pictures?

- Smith Enterprises Vortex Direct Connect flash hider
- Smith Enterprises Gas Locking Front Sight (GLFS-D-18)
- Smith Enterprises/Fisher M14DC 0.30 Caliber Sound Suppressor
The same setup that H2OMan on other forums uses.
