Just sell it. Problem solved!

Oh I’ve thought about it, but I really don’t think the M4 is going to be a $1000 better than my 20+ year old M1.

On my M4 I just shot a few shells of various buck and slugs to make sure function of them, then just shot whatever I felt like or had laying around. Break in on an M4 shotgun isn't like a rifled barrel or super tight tolerances on a precision firearm. It's a nice gun, but it isn't something that demands special attention.

If it already has a hundred rounds through it, the breaking in has been done and gone anyway. Just shoot it and stop thinking about it.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your input. There were so many opinions being thrown out on a few M4 websites, I knew I could count on OSA for solid advice. I'll be taking it out soon. I ordered a case of 00 buck, and a few boxes of some other rounds from True Shot Gun Club last night. They had pretty good prices and plenty of ammo in stock. I saved well over $150 than if I had bought it locally.

Not sure what you got it for, but you can get Wolf 00 for .50 a round now. It was .40 a round before the panic, so almost down to normal. It cycles my Saiga clone (KS-12) just fine.
