Congratulations! Nothing like the older Marlins. I collected a boatload before thinning down to finance Marlin Ballards. Competed with those for about 5 yrs before eyesight ended my iron sight competitive shooting.
But I did keep my vintage 1893s and 1894 turn-of-the-century production levers, and an STBL and one waffle-top 35 Rem. You have a nice one there and your father will be thrilled. Good on you!

Since we all appreciate gun pictures I’ll see if I remember how to post. The ballard is approx 140yrs old. The rack of levers are from the era before Marlin started using the perch-belly forearms. On yours I really like the end-cap on the forearm over the barrel bands of other models.
