Can you tell which are stepped from looking at the loaded ammo?
Or do you have to see the inside of the casing?

These companies are all known to have made this crap, there may be others and not all brass from these companies will necessarily be stepped. I don't think Freedom Munitions stuck with it for very long but a bunch of it got out there for sure. They do it because the step makes it impossible for bullet setback and a kaboom from it. Problem is the step is in 3 different locations depending on bullet weight of the original cartridge. This affects internal case volume biggly which affects pressure.

No matter which one you have there is a stress riser in the case wall at that step location and it WILL give way at some point leaving the front part of the case stuck in your chamber. Lots of people reload them and don't have a problem. Until they do...Which is a certainty....Only question is when...

This stuff is garbage.
