Most pre-1975 Chrysler cars had left-hand lug nuts on the left side of the vehicle. A lot of pre-1965 Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiacs also had left-hand lug nuts on the driver's side. If you looked at the end of the stud, you would see an "L" stamped in it. Supposedly, it was to help prevent torque from unscrewing them. The same logic is still being used on bicycle pedals, today.
As someone who lived in northern Colorado for a little over 4 years, I can tell you that it's the exact opposite up there! I remember people FREAKING OUT over what they considered a tornado, but in reality was little more than a dust devil. We went outside and watched it.
