He should get serious jail time for the felonies and the domestic violence. The state will NEVER get the restitution from a sleaze bag like him. Put a lien on his doublewide? His 1976 pickup? Okay, a little stereotyping but you get the idea. IF he had a job and WOULD pay the fines, after a few years in jail then whatever he may have had will be gone. Job. Property. Etc...

The thought of footing the $30-40K/per year cost for an inmate just for poaching doesn't make sense. You'd get your restitution money back within 2 years if not in jail(savings over 2 years with say an ankle monitor vs jail cell).

While I do not like the idea of paying for them to sit in prison, most of these scumbags will not learn without some serious jail time. Maybe we need to go back to the old idea of making them earn their keep. Nothing wrong with a little hard labor and it really gets the point across to some of these bozos. Make them work, no more cable TV or internet except for online classes and e-mail with family. Decent food but no better than our poor have to eat.

@RickN I think every other weekend out doing wildlife habitat development and then the other weekends doing the roadside trash pickup would be a good start.

Of course they should loose their hunting and fishing privileges for the duration of their penalty too.
And repeat offenders should loose them for life.

You could probably shorten that response to "These scumbags will not learn." Period lol.

Most don't have them to begin with, they don't like to pay to poach and get caught. They'd rather just poach and get caught. There's not many "upstanding poachers" out there that buy a license and then go poach.
