Actually, the U.S. Army selected the Sig ... From the article: "The U.S. Army on Thursday awarded Sig Sauer a contract worth $580 million to make the next service pistol based on the company's P320 handgun".

Will the other services follow suit? Possibly; even probably...at least for regular units. But MARSOC, for example, has recently chosen the Glock 19 for their Marines. But MARSOC, and other special operations units that use the Glock, will get much more training time with their handguns (and other small arms) than most military personnel. The Sig P320 is certainly a worthy choice, from a logistical as well as practical standpoint.
